All Vertex 2-stroke pistons are gravity cast from an aluminum alloy with 18% silicon content. Because of a cast piston's ability to contain higher silicon content compared to forged pistons, and because two-strokes have lower cylinder pressures when compared to four-strokes, cast pistons are ideal for two-stroke engines.

• All pistons are heat-treated with a T-5 hardening and tempering cycle
• Piston skirts are coated with a high-tech Molybdenum Disulphite coating for faster break-in time and increased piston life
• Gravity-cast aluminum alloy (not forged) with 18% silicone content, which produces an extremely light but very strong piston
• Silicone decreases thermal expansion, therefore can be run at tighter tolerances compared with forged pistons
• The high silicone content prolongs piston life by decreasing wear on the piston skirt, also making them less susceptible to rattling or breaking
