In the year 2001 Dr Chris Leatt went to see a Motocross race with his son when he witnessed a fatal accident. This is when the idea was born for protection and Dr Leatt developed the first Leatt Brace prototype.
The Leatt Brace protection system was first introduced and sold in South Africa. Later, at the 6th international motorcycle conference in Cologne, Dr Leatt and Andreas Geisinger introduced the Leatt Brace protection system. The international breakthrough came in 2007 when the Leatt Brace was introduced in the Racer X magazine and was rated best product of the year with 5/5 stars. A year later, the world famous Leatt Labs were founded. This is where the Leatt Brace protection systems are improved and expanded. Meanwhile, there are also neck braces for the bicycle sector.
Leatt Brace won the BrandNew Award in 2010 at the Bike Expo in Germany. Motocross and bike friends as well as professionals agreed: the Leatt Brace neck brace has now become an indispensable component of the standard protection gear. The mountain bike professional Sam Hill and the Motocross pro Ryan Dungey were able to convince themselves of the Leatt neck brace. Thanks to the protection, their falls did not result in serious consequences.
